Today, Filently is officially live. Anyone can sign up, and the first 25 documents are completely free.
It’s been 6 months since I started building Filently – and if I’m being honest, it still feels a bit surreal to write these words. But here we are.
The Problem That Started It All
Like many founders, I built the thing I needed myself. My Google Drive was a mess. Invoices named “scan_2025.pdf”. Contracts buried three folders deep in the wrong place. Tax documents floating around with no structure whatsoever.
I’d spend hours every month renaming files, dragging them into the right folders, and trying to maintain some sort of order. And every time I thought I had it under control, another batch of documents would pile up.
I knew I wasn’t the only one. Freelancers, consultants, busy professionals – anyone without a dedicated assistant dealing with documents faces the same problem.
What Filently Does
Filently is an AI layer on top of your Google Drive. Documents come in – whether you upload them, they land in a watched folder in your Drive, or you forward them via email – and Filently takes care of the rest.
It recognizes what the document is, renames it properly, and files it into the right folder. Automatically. Based on your existing folder structure and naming conventions.
No new system to learn. No complicated setup. Filently works with what you already have.
More Than Just Code
Building Filently over the past 6 months wasn’t just about writing code. It was company registration in Switzerland. Branding and rebranding. GDPR compliance. Privacy policies. Google’s CASA Tier 2 security certification – which took weeks of back and forth. Content creation, waitlist management, and hundreds of small decisions that nobody sees from the outside.
In January, my co-founder Sophia joined the team, taking on everything that doesn’t involve code – and making this launch possible in the first place.
Getting Here
Before writing a single line of public-facing code, I wanted to know if the problem was real. So I built a waitlist and started sharing the journey publicly.
The response was clear: 292 people signed up. Not because of a polished marketing campaign, but because they recognized the problem from their own daily work.
From there, we moved into a closed beta with 12 testers who shaped the product with their feedback – reporting bugs, questioning features, and pushing us to get the details right. Three of them believed in the vision early enough to become Founding Members.
To every single one of you: thank you. Filently wouldn’t be what it is today without your input.
What’s Available Today
Filently launches with two plans:
- Personal – Starting at $6/month, for individuals who want to keep their Drive organized with up to 25 documents per month.
- Professional – Starting at $19.33/month, for professionals handling higher document volumes with up to 250 documents per month.
To celebrate the launch, annual billing comes with 4 months free.
For those who want to go all in, we’re offering a Founding Members Deal: $799 one-time payment for lifetime access to all Pro features, 4x monthly documents, priority support, and a seat on our Product Advisory Panel. Only 50 spots are available.
And if you just want to try it out – the first 25 documents are on us, no credit card required.
What’s Next
This launch is a beginning, not a finish line. We’re already working on supporting additional cloud storage providers, improving our AI classification accuracy, and expanding language support.
But right now, I’m focused on one thing: listening. Every piece of feedback, every support request, every “this would be nice” message helps us build a better product.
If you’ve ever wasted time renaming and filing documents – give Filently a try. I’d love to hear what you think.
