What is a Google Drive organizer?
A Google Drive organizer is a tool that keeps your Drive tidy automatically, rather than leaving you to rename and file every document by hand. Filently recognizes each document, gives it a clear consistent name, and moves it into the right folder, all inside your existing Google Drive.
How can I automatically organize my Google Drive?
There are several ways. Google’s Organize My Files suggests folders for loose files in My Drive, and you confirm each move yourself. With tools like Zapier, Make or Apps Script, you can build your own filing rules. How does Filently organize my Google Drive files?
Filently uses AI to analyze the content of each document, not just the filename. It identifies invoices, contracts, receipts and more, then creates a clear descriptive name with date and type. For example, scan_001.pdf containing an Amazon invoice becomes 2024-03_Invoice_Amazon.pdf, and the file is moved into the right folder automatically.
Is Filently safe to use with my Google account?
Yes. Filently connects to your Google Drive through Google’s official OAuth 2.0 sign-in. Your Google password is never shared with Filently.
Filently is a Swiss company and CASA Tier 2 certified, an independent security assessment under Google’s App Defense Alliance. Your original files stay in your Google Drive. Filently staff cannot see the content of your documents. Filently doesn’t store copies of your files on its servers and never uses your data to train AI models.
By default, Filently only accesses the documents you want it to organize, plus your Drive metadata: file names, file types and folder structure. Filently analyzes the content of these documents to understand what they contain, give them meaningful names and find the right folder. It can’t access the content of your other files.
Full Drive access is requested only if you turn on inbox folder watching, so Filently can detect new files in your inbox folder. Even then, it only processes the files that land in that folder.
Google’s consent screen mentions “delete”, but Filently never deletes files. It only renames and moves them, and you can undo every change from the Activity Timeline. You can revoke access anytime in your Google Account. Which permissions Filently asks for, and why.
Do my files leave Google Drive when I use Filently?
Your files stay in your Google Drive. Filently renames them and files them right there. You don’t migrate them to another system, and Filently doesn’t store copies of them on its servers.
To identify a document and file it correctly, Filently processes its content. This happens only on servers in Switzerland and the EU. The providers involved and what each one does are listed on our subprocessors page.
Filently doesn’t send document data to the US for processing. Where Google stores your files depends on your Google account’s settings and region. Which permissions Filently asks for, and why.
What types of documents can Filently organize?
PDFs, Office documents (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX), Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, OpenDocument formats, and scanned or photographed documents (JPG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC) such as receipts. If a file contains text Filently can recognize, it can name and file it.
How is Filently different from Gemini's Organize My Files in Google Drive?
Google’s Gemini feature Organize My Files suggests folders for loose files in My Drive. You have to confirm the suggested moves yourself. It doesn’t rename files, doesn’t support Shared Drives, and as of October 2026 is available only in English and on paid Google plans.
